“Michael Bates and his team undertook an extensive renovation of the existing structures of my terrace house in Marrickville so that a new kitchen and laundry could be installed.

The renovation involved structural changes such as the installation of new windows and the repositioning of doors in load bearing walls, and major plumbing work replacing the aged sewerage and stormwater drains. The rooms were rebuilt from the ground up. The quality of the building work was exceptional, with a very close attention to detail and finishes. The Bates Building team worked very long hours to finish the build in just four months, they actively worked to offer the best solutions to any construction issues, and contributed creatively to the project, such as my new toilet in what was the old back door area.

Michael was able to take on board my ideas and then improve on them, always consulting with me. He paid close attention to the smallest details in order to ensure that the contemporary renovations maintained a continuity of design with the original features of my 1890’s terrace. The high standards of workmanship of the members of his team are evident in all aspects of the construction.Michael and his team also constructed a beautiful deck and winding wooden path to the double walled back fence and rubbish bin shield which they also built. Thanks to him my Inner West backyard became a small oasis to relax in.

In addition Bates Building also replaced the old floorboards in the living and dining rooms of my terrace house. This took some care so as not to damage my fireplaces and skirting boards.
